Plenary Four: Engagement on the Introduction of New Nuclear Activities

This panel session will focus on engagement activities in jurisdictions new to nuclear with a focus on Indigenous Communities. The conversation will cover engagement related to development of new nuclear generation, nuclear medicine, nuclear fuel, used fuel management and nuclear R&D with a view to enabling and supporting the full participation of Indigenous people, communities and businesses in Canada’s rapidly expanding nuclear industry.

Plenary Five: Nuclear Beyond Electricity – Isotopes and their Applications

Although nuclear power plants are most well-known for electricity production, they can be used for several applications beyond electricity generation. The aim of this panel session is to impart an overview of the breadth of innovative paths for isotope production and their applications for the benefit to various sectors of society.   Tritium and emerging applications for heavy water, production of isotopes at the nuclear power plants and their use in agriculture and areas of the industry are among the topics of this plenary.
